The Matrix of Our World

A revelation occurred to me today. It seems like our world itself is a living cyberpunk world. Now, some of you may know what I meant and some may not. For those who don't know what cyberpunk means, I will explain the basics of what it is.
The word Cyberpunk came into our languages long ago and was first used to define futuristic movie genre. Back then when science fiction movies were he buff of many storytelling, they were only placed in a single main genre which is of course Sci-Fi. But soon, a line of futuristic movie were being made and told. People started seeing movies that emphasized on a dark futuristic world, a corrupted world where people are seen to have advanced in field of technology. In that future everything is different from the way we talk to the way we walk and e
ven to the way we have sex. Examples of movies that portrays a cyberpunk society is Bladerunner, Robocop, Tank Girl, The Terminator, Total Recall, The Fifth Element, Equilibrium, V for Vendetta and the well known, The Matrix Trilogy

So how does one passed to be called a cyberpunk society?

1. An Ominous Body or Government that rules and controls People in that Future.
In a cyberpunk society, the citizens are being rule by an every power hungry and corrupted government entity. Sometimes its a singular being in power or a corporation that holds absolute power over the society. They control the  resources and decides who can have them and who cannot. The people of that society will constantly live
in fear and they mostly hate their ruling power. The most common factor among most cyberpunk governments are that they will always tell you what they do or are doing is for the good of the people(doesn't that sounds familiar?). A world where the rich and powerful gets away with almost anything.

2. Technology brought more Bad than Good.
The futuristic world of cyberpunk will most prominently display a world that is advance. A world that has produced countless sophisticated technology. But the irony is that the technology that is supposed to help us made
our society worst. The world runs wild from the misused of technology and the crime rate is ever high. A dystopian future where society is divided in several classes. The primary class will be always living in luxury and benefits while the lower class will constantly slave to survive in that world.

3. Ubiquitous access to Information.
The storytelling of cyberpunk movies always tell of an ever streaming line of information. There is always a form of philosophy used to reflect how and why things happen. The citizens are constantly being feed information randomly where ever they go and activist will constantly churn out random messages to awaken the society to stand up against the ru
ling power. (bloggers anyone? )

Those are just three points . Theres about a few more points in describing a cyberpunk society but I think this three are enough to compare with our world today.

Our country is now, as it seemed, ruled under a singular government that is near the verge of chaos. The leader of this government as we know, controls the countries resources and riches. That leader had given a false hope to us before we voted for him(as in V for Vendetta). Once he had received power, he keeps making decisions that do not seemed to be in the people's interest. He would keep making these anti-people decisions and keep telling the people 'it is for the good of all' or 'its for our future'.

Next we find that today in our world we have and are nearly covered with technology. People everywhere have the means of communicating thanks to hand phones. We can fly to anywhere around the world in airplanes. We protect our country with counter-weapon technologies. But even with these technology, evil found ways to misuse it. Technology that helps us to fly can become a weapon. Technology that is used for medicine has been used to farm toxins for subway attacks. Technology for information has become a hacking tool. Technology made to protects ourselves have become weapons on the unprotected. Technology thats suppose to help us live longer is slowly shortening the life of our Planet.

Who will listen to the cries? Who will wake up to fight this dark future? If you believe what I believed. If you see what I see. If you know what I know... then we must change and wake up from this coma we are in and realize that as an individual, we are powerless, but as a whole, we are victorious.
